The Story of Pashmina

The Story of Pashmina

The Story of Pashmina

Our shawls are crafted at 14,000 feet in The Himalayas.

Through cold winters and sun-filled summers, our Himalayan shepherds take care of a special pashmina goat, from whom the word ‘pashmina’ is derived.

Only the underbelly of the pashmina goat’s hair is trimmed, while they lovingly take care of the goats as they graze in the high altitude, breathing the pure air, which lends to the petal-soft cashmere.

It is then trimmed, spun and  handed to our weavers who carry a skill and keep it alive for 1200years, from a story that began 1200years ago and still lives to this present day, in the ancestral gift and skill, passed down through the hands and the heart, within families of the artisans, spanning generations.

They honour the past using traditional techniques, while also embracing the present by drawing inspiration from contemporary and modern design.

They require great skill and mastery and can take months, to create.

The Story Of Handwoven Scarves

The nomads of Ladakh and the weavers of Kashmir and their extraordinarily skilled time consuming creation, creates a single handwoven pashmina scarf.

Ladakh produces less than 1% of the world’s cashmere. When combined with 1200 year old ancestral skills in the unmatched hands of our Kashmiri weavers, you have a timeless piece.

An ancient craft is being preserved for hundreds of years in the memory of our weavers, nomadic trails and gifted artisans. It is our matchless dedicated skill evolved over centuries that we are delighted to share with you here, crafted in the mountains heart

The story of our Embroidered Shawls

The story where our shawls begin is 600years old.

In the early 15th century, the arts of weaving and hand embroidery traveled from Persia to the Northern part of India, later flourishing in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

An ancestral gift and skill, passed down through the hands and the heart, within the families of the weavers, from generation to generation. All our shawls are hand woven, hand loomed and hand embroidered with great attention paid to workmanship and quality.

We use authentic pashmina cashmere to create one-of-a kind Shawls, Stoles and Scarves.

Our shawls draw inspiration from the past using traditional techniques. Our designs draw inspiration from traditional patterns and contemporary trends. These complex patterns require great skill and mastery and can take months, to create.
